Safety
At Coastal Kayaks safety is a priority. We have diligently assembled the most effective, efficient, and compact Life Safety devices that not only provide the paddler with the finest in protection, but a 'kit that fits' the physical parameters of kayaking. This kit will outfit the paddler with all the essentials in order to be USCG legally compliant while on the water.

Our PFD's are the "inflatable" type using a replaceable Co2 cartridge that can be deployed manually or automatically. These PFD's are the most forgiving PFD's we have found. They are lightweight and cool, do not restrict the torso area of the body, nor do they 'chaff' paddlers arms.

The strobe is a small but powerful unit. It can be attached to the PFD or worn on the upper arm of the paddler via an elastic band. At night, it is acclaimed that a rescue crew, in the air, can spot the strobe's beacon up to 3 miles.

The E.P.I.R.B. is a much more serious device we stock. Mostly used by extreme sea/touring kayakers. In an unforeseen incident, the E.P.I.R.B. will guide search and rescue crews within a few meters of ones location regardless of visible conditions.

Inspired by the distinctive offset FRS and GPS antennas that give the devices their Rhinoceros-like appearance, GARMIN designed the Rino series as powerful, robust Radios Integrated with Navigation for the Outdoors. They are also the only waterproof two-way radios on the market.

What really separates the Rino from the rest of the FRS herd is the ability to "beam" your exact location to another Rino user within a two-mile range using the FRS spectrum. This important feature is called
Peer-to-Peer Positioning

The Rino boasts GARMIN’s traditional tough, lightweight, waterproof design to handle the rigors of any outdoor adventure. And because the Rino has standard FRS capabilities, you can talk to friends or family who own conventional FRS radios.
